History

The Alex Scott & Staff West Gippsland Football Netball Competition was formed in 2017 as part of the AFL Gippsland Senior Football Leagues Review of 2015-16.
It was officially launched on Saturday, 17 December, 2016.

The colours of the league logo were chosen as a tribute to the colours of the now defunct West Gippsland Football League (red and white) with a touch of gold to represent the bright future of a modern football and netball competition.

The inaugural season featured 10 clubs; Bunyip, Cora Lynn, Dalyston, Garfield, Inverloch-Kongwak, Kilcunda-Bass, Koo Wee Rup, Korumburra-Bena, Nar Nar Goon and Phillip Island. 2019 saw the addition of two new clubs, with Warragul Industrials and Tooradin Dalmore welcomed to make WGFNC a 12 team competition.

The competition comprises four grades of football (seniors, reserves, under-18 and under-16) and eight
grades of netball (A-grade, B-grade, C-grade, D-Grade, 17-&-Under, 15-&-Under, 13-&-Under and 11-&-Under).

Football match officials are provided by South Gippsland Umpires Association.
