The morning started out cold and wet and stayed that way for most of the day but the girls came to play regardless of weather. Teams not only found ways to work together as one but came away with friendships they never would have expected. With wins over our rivals
Kylie Lansdown from Kilcunda Bass Coached the 13’s Open team and finished the day on top of the ladder undefeated.
This put the team into Semi Final against Gippsland with WGFNC taking the win 12 – 3. This win sent the team into the Grandfinal against Moe & District WGFNC took the win 9 – 3 That win has now booked a spot on the Finals Day 24th July against the other regions across Victoria.

WGFNC had a very competitive and successful day in more ways than one. Losing the finals by just 1 goal is still a big achievement in itself.
For those that don’t know we send teams to this tournament each year not only to showcase the talent that WGFNC has within the clubs but to enable our regional players a chance to be Talent identified just like our metro neighbours. On the day there are Talent Scouts from Netball Victoria along with scouts from VNL Clubs looking at each player from every team.
We were surprised and extremely excited to recieve a email inviting all of the 17s team to attend pre season trials by a Netball Scout along with a couple of players from the U15s team .. these players will be contacted very shortly with further information.
With a total of 44 positions up for grabs there were in excess of 120 players across all age groups trialing for these positions a hard decision for coaches but great for the WGFNC.
11 WGFNC clubs were represented.
I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge and thank people who again made this possible.
All the parents who took the girls to any trials, training and the tournament.
Clubs who put their hands up to use their facilities and put forward girls to trial.
Team Managers Abbey Seuren, Tina Seuren & Raelene Stokkel who did a fantastic job.
Coaches who gave up their time and warm houses so that these girls could play netball you went far and beyond what was expected of you Thank you.
