Stage set for showpiece day

Battle lines have been drawn on Garfield Recreation Reserve ahead of this weekend’s Alex Scott & Staff West Gippsland Football Netball Competition Grand Final Day.

In the main games, undefeated minor premiers Phillip Island and Tooradin Dalmore will take nearest challenges and competitions heavyweights Cora Lynn and Dalyston in the Senior Football and A Grade Netball matches respectively.

Dalyston and Tooradin Dalmore will also meet in the B Grade decider, with the latter to line up against Bunyip in C Grade.

The Seagulls are also in action in the Reserves match as they aim to knock off two time reigning premier Koo Wee Rup.

Phillip Island will contest the under-18 and under-16 football deciders against Inverloch Kongwak and Nar Nar Goon respectively.

The Island round out a full grand final day schedule with teams in the 17-and-under and 13-and-under matches against Inverloch Kongwak and Cora Lynn, while Koo Wee Rup and Dalyston will do battle in the 15-and-under game.

In all, eight of the WGFNC’s 12 member clubs are participating on the final day of the season, with Phillip Island (five), Tooradin Dalmore (four) and Dalyston (three) the best represented.

The opening games kick off at 8:30am, with the main football and netball events scheduled to begin at 2:30pm and 3:00 respectively.

  • Adult: $15
  • Concession/Under-18: $7
  • Under-16: Free

Garfield Recreation Reserve can be accessed via gates on Beswick St, with parking at the rear of the venue.
